Peel the Onion of Forgiveness

by StephB on June 3, 2011

Jesus tells us we must forgive from the heart. When you say you have forgiven someone and then go on to recount or relive all the grievances you say you have forgiven, then you should question whether you have truly forgiven them. Sometimes, forgiveness must come in layers. It is a process. You forgive the person, but you find yourself still harboring bitterness. Take another look at the person and see what else you still hold against them. You may have to approach forgiveness like peeling an onion. And like peeling an onion, you may have to cry an ocean of painful tears before you get to the core of forgiveness and clean your heart.
